Progressive Housing
The project is proposed to a social housing real estate company as a different option from the current offerings in this market segment. Ideas from projects that have worked successfully in other parts of the Latin American region are revisited, particularly efforts in Chile by the firm Elemental, led by architect Alejandro Aravena.
This project typology addresses the significant challenge of meeting the ever-growing demand for social housing at a low cost with the opportunity for future growth.
Firstly, a land measurement is defined that responds to the need to densify the land while still providing sufficient privacy between neighbors. On this plot, a “starter home” is proposed with a footprint of 25.4m2 and a constructed area of 50.80m2, featuring the necessary spaces to accommodate a newlywed couple. In this initial stage, most of the concepts that represent a high investment in housing are resolved: the roof slab and all branches of hydro-sanitary services.
The project proposes a gradual expansion of the housing in 4 stages, ultimately reaching a home of 103.7m2 that includes the typical program of spaces for a family residence with all necessary services.
